A three-day exhibition to promote green and energy efficient technology and public private partnership for sustainable infrastructure development in Bangladesh will begin from October 4 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL) on Thursday arranged a press conference on its upcoming three day ‘Green PPP Convention and Expo-2018’ to be held during October 4 to 6.
“The event is a part of BIFFL’s nationwide awareness campaign for sustainable development in the country,” Executive Director and CEO of BIFFL S M Formanul Islam told journalists at the conference at National Press Club in Dhaka.
“Focusing on the environment friendly construction materials technology and energy efficiency and public private partnership (PPP), the convention is going to bring together the environment experts, consultant and solutions providers, entrepreneurs, financiers, officials of different ministries as well as development partners,” he said.
“This year, the event will be arranged both in Dhaka and Chattogram. The object of the convention and expo is to promote the widespread usage of green technologies in energy intensive industries,” he added.
The event includes three national seminars followed by plenary discussions to be participated by the experts, development partners, bankers, regulators and users as well as a three day expo, said Executive Director Formanul Islam.
He also said, “The preferred technologies for demonstration include green brick, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building or industry, waste treatment etc.”
BIFFL would also like to highlight the attractiveness of green endeavors to the potential suppliers, entrepreneurs and financiers, he mentioned.
In the last year BIFFL organised a Green Convention and Expo-2017 to promote green technologies.
Being encouraged by its success and recognising the importance of such events in promoting the use of green technologies for sustainable development, BIFFL has decided to make it an annual event with wider scopes.
The suppliers of the green and sustainable technologies will get an opportunity to showcase their innovative business solutions to their target customers. The convention will also provide a platform for the participants to share experiences from global best practices and collate recommendations for the policy makers to formulate enabling policies and regulations towards fostering the green movement in Bangladesh.
The event also includes the handover of the dividend of BIFFL of Tk 64 crore for the year 2017.
Setting up a green and energy efficient office BIFFL is proud to be the first government organisation of Bangladesh obtained platinum grade certificate under USGBC LEED ID+C v3 2009.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will attend as the chief guest while Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir and representative of World Bank, JICA and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh consented to attend the convention as special guests.
Finance Division Additional Secretary and Director of BIFFL Md Ekhlasur Rahman will preside over the convention.
The expo will be open for trade and public visitors from 10 am to 6 pm.
