The three day long BIFFL Green, PPP Convention and Expo 2018 ended both in Dhaka and Chattagram on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The concluding ceremony of the third edition of the annual event which has been visited by eminent consultants, solution providers, enterpreneurs, financiers and officials of BIFFL was organised at Bangabandhu International Convention Center in Dhaka and GEC convention center in Chattagram.
The convention and expos were launched in Dhaka on October 4 and on October 5 to promote green and energy efficient technology as well as public private partnership for ensuring sustainable infrastructure development in the country.
In the closing sessions both in Dhaka and Chattogram SM Formanul Islam, the executive director and CEO of BIFFL, attended as the chief guest and handed over crests to participating organisations and the best stall makers.

Formanul also wishes to arrange the event at wider scale in future.
BIFFL organised the convention and expo as a part of its nationwide promotion of widespread usage of energy efficient and environment friendly technology in energy intensive industrial sector and infrastructure development works that lead to saving both in power and energy.
The convention and expo brought together the renowned environment experts, consultants and solution providers, entrepreneurs, financiers, officials of different ministries of the government as well as the representatives of development partners.
During the event, three seminars were held on ‘prospects and challenges of PPP in Bangladesh’, ‘energy efficiency and green building: two new frontiers towards sustainable development in Bangladesh’ and ‘A must for green growth: challenges and opportunities’ where participating experts, consultants, entrepreneurs, financiers and interested people attended and expressed their opinions. SM Formanul Islam moderated the seminars and discussion sessions.
Secretary of BIFFL Mohammad Khan said energy and power is obligatory for the development and industrialisation.
In Bangladesh, considering the density of population, highly increasing need of power and energy, geographic position and climatic nature and the dependency on agriculture, it is hard to avoid power generation from fossil fuel or coal, which contributes to the greenhouse effect and global warming.
However, we can go parallelly for energy efficient technology to save power and energy and generation of green (renewable) energy to our greatest possible extent.
At the same time, we need to promote the PPP to facilitate infrastructure development of the country engaging the private sector. BIFFL has been organising the green convention and expo for the last 3 years and experiencing huge responses from the technology providers home and abroad, local entrepreneurs, technology users and even the common people and students.
Though started in Dhaka initially, BIFFL plans to arrange the convention and expo in all divisional cities in future.
The three day convention and expo provided a platform for the participants to share experiences from global best practices and collate recommendations for the policy makers to formulate enabling policies and regulations towards fostering the green movement in Bangladesh.
